The U.S. Coast Guard says 20 tar balls have been found off Key West, Fla., but the agency stopped short of saying whether they came from a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Some 5 million gallons of crude has spewed into the Gulf and tar balls have been washing ashore in several states along the coast.

Glenn Beck, the voice of white resentment →

azspot:
Between the early 1930s and the early 1970s, the American social experiment was shaped by a moral vision that was virtually the obverse of everything Glenn Beck and the Tea Party movement subscribes to. Lets call it the social justice movement.
There were three parts to the program: religious, economic and (in the later stages) racial. The religion was...
Toobin- on true Republicans in the High Court. →
“For many decades,” Toobin wrote, “there have been moderate Republicans on the Court — John M. Harlan II and Potter Stewart (appointed by Eisenhower), Lewis F. Powell and Harry Blackmun (Nixon), David H. Souter (Bush I). Stevens is the last of them, and his departure will mark a cultural milestone. The moderate-Republican tradition that he came out of ‘goes way...
